Questions:

1. LSS software locks up during the initialization period whenever I install the software. Why?

2. Printer is not printing my ladder program, only a series of numbers and characters. Why?

3. Cannot get my comments to print out. What am I doing wrong?

4. Cannot do any on-line editing, keep getting a Verification Error. What is wrong?

5. Keep getting a Set Error whenever I try to insert a rung or make a modification to my

program. Why is this happening?

6. Why do I get a Wrong Data Disk Error whenever I try to save my program?

7. How do I delete a vertical line?

8. How do I connect a line to an output or a function block?

9. How can I create more than 9 contacts on a single line? Whenever I reach the right bus

bar, the software doesn't allow me to enter a input contact?

10. How do I exit the software?

11. Explain the hidden keys? CTRL + H, O, M, L, G

12. Whenever I am on-line, the inputs are true, but, the output will not energize. Why?

ANSWERS

1. LSS software locks up during the initialization period whenever I install the software.

Why?

Answers:

Check to see if computer has a CD-ROM drive.

1.) Reboot computer with CD-ROM drivers removed.

2.) Install the LSS software.

3.) Reinstall ROM drivers and reboot system.

Check the size of conventional memory. Must be at least 560k of free memory.


2. Printer is not printing my ladder program, only a series of numbers and characters.

Why?

Answer:

a.) Change font setting on your printer to the smallest possible character setting.

3. Cannot get my comments to print out. What am I doing wrong?

Answer:

Must be set for compressed graphics or wide carriage graphics. Compressed graphics

is for dot matrix printers and wide carriage graphics is for laser jet printers. ASCII setting

good for ALL type of printers, but will ONLY print your ladder - NOT your comments.

Change the font setting on your printer to the smallest possible character setting.

 

4. Cannot do any on-line editing, keep getting a "Verification Error". What is wrong?

Answer:

a) The program in the computer does not match the program in the PLC, the

program will need to be transferred to the computer first.

 

5. Keep getting a "Set Error" whenever I try to insert a rung or make a modification to

my program. Why is this happening?

Answer:

a) There is not enough room below the rung being modified. The modification is

causing a conflict with the rung directly below. Using the "Page Up" or "Page

Down" keys will generate more space.

 

6. Why do I get a "Wrong Data Disk Error" whenever I try to save my program?

Answer:

A library file was not created on the desired disk. Choose Create Library file under

UTILITIES.

 

7. How do I delete a vertical line?

Answer:

1. In Write Mode, move the cursor to the right of the line to be deleted

2. Press the "F6" key

3. Press the "BACKSPACE" key

OR

1. Press the "SHIFT" and "F1" key to change to delete mode

2. Move to the right of the line to be deleted

3. Press the "F6" key

4. Change back to Write Mode by pressing the "F2" key

 

8. How do I connect a line to an output or a function block?

Answer:

1. Move cursor to the 1st point you desire to connect.

2. Press "CTRL + L

3. Move cursor to the 2nd point were the rung will connect to.

4. Press the "ENTER" key

 

9. How can I create more than 9 contacts on a single line? Whenever I reach the right

bus bar, the software doesn't allow me to enter a input contact?

Answer:

1. At the right bus bar the software is looking for an output or a  FUNCTION

CODE.

2. You Must hit the "FUNCTION KEY" of the desired input: ex. NO contact

would be "F6".

3. The software will automatically wrap the contact to the line bellow.

 

10. How do I exit the software?

Answer:

a) You must go off-line with the PLC, and then from the "SET UP" menu you can

choose "EXIT TO DOS".

11. Explain the hidden keys? CTRL + H, O, M, L, G

Answer:

CTRL + H: Brings up the HELP menu.

CTRL + O: Used to bring up commands to go on-line or off-line. Also, when on-line can be

used to switch between program mode, monitor mode and run mode.

CTRL + M: Used to bring up a menu.

CTRL + L: Used to connect a line. (refer to question #8).

CTRL + G: Switch screen between ladder with comments and ladder with out

comments.

 

12. Whenever I am on-line, the inputs are true, but, the output will not energize.

Why?

Answer:

1.) The PLC is in Program Mode. Change to Monitor or Run mode.

2.) The program in the PLC does not match the program in computer. Upload

program to computer.

3.) Program is using IL, JMP, or SUBROUTINE instructions. Refer to operations

manual for details on each instruction.

 

13. When I try to go on-line, why does the software give me a COMM Error and/or

kicks me out of the program?

Answer:

1.) Check the size of your conventional memory. You must have at least 560k

bytes of conventional memory free to go online with the system.

2.) Running under the wrong operating environment (ex. OS2). DOS is

recommended.

3.) Dipswitch settings on Hostlink Module not correct.

4.) Cable pin-outs (RS232) are not correct.

5.) Wrong PLC chosen in Setup Menu.

6.) Wrong Hostlink Module connected to PLC.

 

14. Unable to download program from computer to PLC. I get a EPROM RING

RUN error in a red box at the bottom center of the screen. What is wrong?

Answer:

The Write Enable Switch in the PLC's memory module is turned OFF. Move the

switch to the ON position. Now retry your download.
